God is the one and only God. The eternal, self-sufficient, creator and sovereign ruler of all that there is. Omnipotent, Omniscient, unchanging, righteous, holy, loving, and gracious. All of His attributes together in perfect harmony, He alone is God. The triune God, eternally existent as one God, yet three distinct persons; God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. | Genesis 1:1, Colossians 1:16, Psalm 30: 2, Colossians 1:17, Romans 1:20, Malachi 3: 6, Hebrews 13:8, 1 Peter 1:15-16, 1 John 4:8, Romans 5:8, Lamentations 3:22-23, Genesis 1: 2, John 1:1-3, Matthew 28:19, 1 Peter 1:2 |
Jesus is the Son of God, a separate person of the Father, but one with the Father as one God. Though eternally and fully God, Jesus was born into the world fully human, living among us yet without sin. Jesus came into the world to be our savior, Jesus willingly sacrificed Himself to be killed on the cross, making the blameless sacrifice necessary for the atonement of sin. Jesus physically rose from the grave 3 days later proving His power and victory over death. Just ascended to Heaven returning to His throne at the right of God, with the promise that He will return again. | John 10: 30, Colossians 1: 17-19, John 1: 1-3, Matthew 1: 21-23, John 1: 14, Hebrews 4:15, John 3: 16-17, Isaiah 53: 5-6, Hebrews 9: 12, 1 Corinthians 15: 3-6, Acts 1:9-11, Hebrews 10: 12, John 14: 3 |
The Bible is the inerrant and infallible Word of God. Spoken through men with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, it is the inspired Word of God. Preserved by the Spirit, it is for all of humankind and relevant and necessary for all of humankind. It is the measure of all truth. | 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21, Psalm 119:105, Psalm 119: 160, Hebrews 4: 12 |
Mankind is especially and uniquely created in the image of God, as male and female, but because of sin we are a fallen image of God, in need of restoration. There is nothing mankind can do on their own to correct this. | Genesis 1: 27, Psalm 139: 13-16, Romans 3: 23, Isaiah 59: 1-2 |
By the grace of God, and faith in the atonement bought with the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we can be saved. Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father and the only hope of salvation. Through being born again, we can have new and eternal life. | Ephesians 2: 4-9, Romans 10: 9-10, Romans 6: 23, John 14: 6, Acts 4: 12, John 3: 3, 5-6, 2 Corinthians 5: 17 |
Because of the salvation by Jesus Christ and the filling of the Holy Spirit we are empowered and expected to live in holiness. The Kingdom of God is a present reality, with the hope of a future and complete consummation. It is not a geographical, physical, or political kingdom but it is the ruling activity of God. An everlasting kingdom, brought into this world with the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, continued on through the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ’s lordship over the hearts and lives of His followers. | Philippians 3: 20, Mark 1:14-15, Luke 10:9, Mark 9:1, Romans 14:17 |
The Church is the body of believers, which is the body of Christ. The Church is made up of all those who have been born again into Jesus Christ. It is God who adds to the Church. Marriage is a gift of God, created and instituted by God, and God’s design for marriage has always been one man and one woman for life. God’s will is for sex to only be within the confines of that marriage covenant. Baptism was modeled by Jesus Himself, and commanded for us to do. It is a public declaration of our faith and our commitment to follow Jesus Christ. The act of baptism is often referred to as ‘an outward sign of an inward work’. Baptism is not what saves us or what actually cleanses us from sin, but it is a representation of that which has already taken place, through faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism is the representation of our repentance, death to sin, and new life in Christ. | Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:38, Acts 16:30-33, Romans 6:4 |
